About the Event

AIYA SA Horror Movie Night: Impetigore

Join AIYA SA for a night of Indonesian horror, culture, and good company as we screen Impetigore (Perempuan Tanah Jahanam, 2019), directed by Joko Anwar.

When Maya discovers she may have inherited a house in her family's ancestral village, she travels there hoping for a fresh start. Instead, she finds a village living under a curse, and a past her family never told her about. Impetigore was Indonesia's submission to the Academy Awards and has become one of the country's most celebrated horror films.

After the screening, stick around for snacks and an informal chat about the Indonesian folklore and traditions behind the story. No horror experience needed. You just need to be brave enough to watch.
